Monad Foundation Acquires Portal Labs to Power Native Payment Infrastructure

The Monad Foundation has announced the acquisition of Portal Labs, a stablecoin infrastructure developer, in a move aimed at bringing a fully integrated payment layer to the Monad blockchain. The deal is expected to accelerate native stablecoin functionality and seamless value transfer within the Monad ecosystem.

Portal Labs has been developing scalable, permissionless stablecoin issuance tools, including decentralized minting protocols and multi-chain interoperability layers. By integrating this infrastructure, Monad positions itself to compete directly with established smart contract platforms offering native payments, such as Solana and Ethereum L2s.

The acquisition comes amid growing demand for low-latency, high-throughput solutions that include built-in payment primitives. With Monad known for its EVM compatibility and performance-oriented architecture, the addition of Portal’s capabilities creates new possibilities for DeFi, gaming, and on-chain commerce use cases.

Foundation leadership emphasized that the acquisition aligns with its long-term roadmap for enabling stable, secure, and developer-friendly payments on-chain. Initial integration is expected in Q4 2025, with stablecoin issuance and routing tools entering public testnet shortly thereafter.

This move may also attract institutional builders looking for a performant yet decentralized framework to deploy scalable financial products without relying on external bridges or middleware.
